I don't understand why everyone praise the photoshop skills here. It's not difficult to do at all. If you tell me it took you more than an hour I would be surprised. It's just couple of stock photos, color correction plus outer shadow and drop shadow. I like the image, it's beautiful, but it's very simple.
When has Universal not done that same thing to countless other movies. I would get over it, You really think money grubbing, spoon feed, gold toilet using people are not going to steal ideas that make them a profit? Its been happening since the begging of movies, and probablly the begging of time.
Probably true, but it sickens me that they could do something to a film that is so loved and original. Plus the fact that they had so little money to work with, and still managed to make a bloody good film (no pun intended) I guess i had a little more faith in the world heh heh Won't make that mistake again.
HAHA... Ive heard so much about this original film, is it independent or something, and how would I go about watching it, like blockbuster or something?
I mean I still got faith in people (kinda) Its just the real big money makers that ruin everything, (not like puff daddy rich) Im talking about the 5 people that own everything, like nbc, cbs, fox. Basically the Media. YEAh Blame the Media. Ridiculus. Well take it easy!!!
It is, to put it simply, AMAZING. Depending where you life, you should be able to find it in a dvd shop (it's even been released over here in England now) but i can't guarantee about it being in a rental place, since i've never tried to rent it... but you should definitely see it one way or another, because MY GOD is it addictive.
It started with two people, Terrance Zdunich (who plays Graverobber in the film) And Darren Smith ( who makes a cameo as the conductor of the opera) when they sat down and decided to start writing what they called 10 minute operas. That lead to the Necromerchant's Debt, which then lead to a stage play. This is where Repomen started, as the "creator" (a phrase i use VERY loosely here) saw the stage play, wrote a book inspired ripping off of that play, and released it as the Repossession Mambo. I've also heard other rumours that Repo Men came from one of their meetings with a company, in which they proposed the idea to film company, in which the film guys kinda went "ok! We'll makes yous moosical.. umm but, ermm... could you lose the moosic?" ... Yeah, that didn't go down well... In the end, they went to Lionsgate and Twisted pictures, and they got the green light to make Repo! the Genetic Opera. They had hardly any money to make a big deal about the film, and they were pretty much just printing out their own posters, but the film was so popular before it even came out that people were coming to the very first showings in cosplay. This is what i mean. Repo! is always going to have this fanbase that Repo Men just can't hope for. Who the hell is gonna turn up to that film dressed as Jude Law?
That's what i mean. Repo literally started with two guys in a cafe writing songs. They poured so much love into the film, and stuck with it to the end. What's more, they're being so calm and cool about this rip off. All they've done is, instead of pointing fingers or anything like that, they have posted a timeline in blogs, in which they say simply what happened when, showing irrefutably that Repo! came first, and that it was their idea. Terrance was even kind enough to wish them luck. As you can tell, i'm not as mature as that, as i've gone on for however long ranting about this. I'm not good at handling situations when something or someone i care about is insulted, hurt or made a fool of.
I'm sorry for the rant there... i'm a little irate, as i discovered tonight that not only they stole the main plot and the designs for almost everything, but now i discover that they also took my favourite character (graverobber) and AND the drug in the film... *twitch* i hope their film dies in the box office... unloved and unwanted....
But search Zydrate Anatomy on Youtube. It's one of the most well known songs of the film, and for good reason. Warning: You may have this song in your head for many days to come.
Well I didn't use stock images to make it faster or anything like that, I've only been using Photoshop since august of last year so I wouldn't really know how to do those things and I'm self taught, learning from tutorials and such. I have tons to learn! but thanks for the comment my friend.
Ok you didnt use stock images to make the image faster? You wrote that you used stock images and just now said you wouldnt know how to make that otherwise. Draw it maybe? Its good use of photoshop, but Im just a little let down, The image you have is essentailly other peoples work compiled and you claim you made it. unless of course you took the stock photos yourself.
Stock Images are great but they are for guides or placeholders I think at least. If I found out someone used any of my work (including stock images) in a contest and won, I would probably want the winnings for my work.
All of this in mind though. For a rookie with photoshop, you got some pretty sick skills. Im just a bit opinionated about stock stuff.
perfect! I don't even know that you could find such good photos at google! the picture reminds me of cortana from the game HALO 3, don't know if you know it. i love her blue hair and her eye really good work!
